Meet the artist

Hi, I'm Hannah, the creator of Knots and Embers. I started this little venture back in 2020 when life slowed down enough for me to get back into exploring my creativity and it's now turned into my full-time business.

Having explored various art mediums during an Art Foundation course after I left school, life eventually got in the way and I gradually got out of practise of making art.

A couple of years ago, whilst working as a forest school leader, I came across a cheap pyrography tool and experimented with simple signs like 'Bug Hotel' and 'Log House' for our outdoor area, but it wasn't until I created my first piece of pyrography art as a gift for my sister that I began taking it seriously.

That tree pose piece is where it all started and is what sparked the idea of taking it further (and it's still offered in my shop!).

My favourite pieces to burn are designs based on yoga and anything that involves nature or animals. In fact, I do a bit of dog walking on the side with Skinner's Strolls because I love dogs and walking in nature so much.
If you have a special animal in your life and are interested in a pet portrait, or would like any other bespoke piece, do get in touch about a custom order.

Eco-friendly, low-waste art

Creating art that brings joy and has minimal impact on the planet is at the heart of Knots and Embers' ethos.

I make every effort to source all my materials responsibly. All my wood used is locally-sourced from felled sick or dangerous trees, the oil used for sealing is natural and vegan, any paint used is ethically-sourced and made from natural pigments, and all macrame is made from recycled yarn.
